CRDN Preventative Measures:

At CRDN, our first priority is to keep our clients, employees and partners safe. In doing so, we have comprised procedures and guidelines regarding the handling of claims involving items potentially exposed to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ensuring Clean Work Environments & Restored Contents

A. Appointment Calls

When making or receiving phone calls with policyholders regarding CRDN appointments for pick-up or delivery at an insured’s location, CRDN will do the following:

1.) Explain that, due to the current situation involving Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will need to ask a few questions to ensure the safety of all employees and customers.

2.) Ask if they or anyone who lives or works in or has visited the structure (home or business) has tested positive or been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

3.) Ask if they or anyone who lives or works in or has visited the structure have visited or been in contact with anyone who has visited any of the restricted countries or been on a cruise ship in the last two weeks. 4.) Understand that they may have concerns and let them know they can ask any questions they may have.

B. Proceed if "No"

If the answer to questions 2 and 3 is NO, CRDN will proceed as usual using personal protection equipment (PPE).

C. How to Proceed if "Yes"

If the answer to either question 2 or 3 is YES, CRDN will follow steps D-F below.

D. Enhanced PPE in Contaminated Structures

If the caller indicates potential Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the location (a “Contaminated Structure”), the standard response will be to wait to schedule visits for 72 hours after any infected persons have left the structure to allow the virus time to degrade. If it is necessary to enter the Contaminated Structure immediately for an emergency pull or to scope job, CRDN will use the Enhanced PPE measures described below.

All losses involving a Contaminated Structure should be processed individually and separately from any other loss/job. Additionally, all vehicles that respond to such losses must be equipped with a sufficient supply of all Enhanced PPE, sanitizing wipes, and garbage bags (preferably red or differentiating colors for ease of identification) for disposal.

Each team member should wear: 1.) a Tyvek suit; 2.) safety glasses; 3.) a N95 Respirator; and 4.) Nitrile gloves (collectively, the “Enhanced PPE”). The Enhanced PPE must be worn at all times while inside the structure.

All textiles and soft contents to be removed from the Contaminated Structure must be placed in a plastic garbage bag, labeled as “Contaminated Items” secured with a zip tie. Any labeling of garbage bags should be done utilizing zip ties so as to not puncture the bags. All electronics removed from a Contaminated Structure should be tagged as “Potential Contaminate”.

After exiting the Contaminated Structure, the Enhanced PPE should be taken off using a gloved hand and placed into a plastic garbage bag and labeled as “Contaminated PPE”. That bag should be brought back with the restorable goods and disposed of.

All employees handling Contaminated Items should follow PPE protocol at the job site, in transit and at the plant.

E. Treatment of Items Removed from Contaminated Structures

Textiles removed from a Contaminated Structure will be taken to the plant for drying and/or to allow additional time for virus degradation prior to being cleaned by technicians wearing Enhanced PPE . These items should be removed from the labeled bags and placed on a clean, disinfected surface away from all non-contaminated items. Do not shake textiles as this may spread contaminants.

Ozonizing should be performed on all items removed from any Contaminated Structure prior to mark-in and tagging as an extra measure to attempt to destroy viruses and bacteria.

All garbage bags should be disposed of directly in a dumpster.

Electronics should be unloaded wearing Enhanced PPE and placed into a special holding area in the warehouse where they will be cleaned by technicians wearing Enhanced PPE.

F. Sanitization of Supporting Materials

Following any loss at a Contaminated Structure, any and all resources, tools, materials, etc. used in in connection with such loss must be fully sanitized and decontaminated including vehicles, bins, tablets, cell phones, clipboards, and anything else used while responding. This also includes any surface, bin or materials used or exposed while processing the garments or electronics in the plant and/or warehouse.
